Consider: (By popular request)

"On NSA surveillance: "We wanted a president who listens to all Americans – now we have one." ---- Jay Leno

Dear Folks,

La Papoñita is getting to feel more like home, so we plan to be there every Sunday at 14:00 (2 pm) into the future. Do come and join us, if you haven't been by, and see what you think of the place.

Other items for your consideration include:

1. 2 items on health

One participant is concerned about the coconut oil debate and wrote:

I feel a need to clarify this: you can buy coconut oil almost anywhere: farmácias, drogerias. However, EDIBLE coconut oil is NOT sold in Uruguay, period. I would love someone to prove me wrong. Friends ordered some to be shipped in and it was confiscated by customs, who told them to use rice oil instead!

It has also been suggested that you might devote 5 minutes to this video, which could put you in a position to save the life of someone having a heart attack:

2. One of us really needs a new place to live, an unfurnished rental. What is needed is a 3 (or more) bedroom place, in Montevideo or close by, ideally with a fenced yard for the family dog, and a secure place for the car. And the place would qualify as a dream if it also had a stove, a fridge, and heating. Moving date is any time now, but certainly by August 1, and for a longer term.

3.Last opportunity: Baking Class, now scheduled for Saturday, July 13th, at 14:00 (2 pm). Do let the master baker know you want to come by
sending an E-Mail to durandetto (at) aol.com.

4.Music--The main events people have already expressed an interest in are:

July 10, 12, 13, 14, or 16: Hänsel & Gretel--at 15:00 (3 pm) each day

July 23 – Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto #2 & Beethoven Symphonie #5

  • August 8-21 (which date?!) – Swan Lake Ballet

  • August 31 – Chabrier, D’Rivera, de Falla

  • September 8--Joshua Bell

5. Bill payment with a MasterCard card: If you are trying to get your bills paid automatically, instead of going to Abitab or RedPagos to pay each bill, you could have them paid with a MasterCard, if you have one. There is a MasterCard office at Plaza Cagancha, on the 8th floor of the tall building next to the Hotel Balmoral, the Torres Towers. Take all your bills with you, and they will set it up for you.

More notices next week--for now, this must suffice.

Coconut Oil in Montevideo
by: Shirley

This week I saw coconut oil for the first time in Montevideo. I found it at:
Mercado Verde
Jaime Zudañez 2511 (just off 21 de Septiembre)

Prana Aceite de Coco.
Extra virgen, orgánico, prensado en frío, USDA Organic.
350 pesos for 500 ml.

They also had ghee, artesanal by PurOrgánico. 165 pesos for about 350 ml.

I hope this can help someone!
